David Gauntlett and Drew Whitworth This module aims to introduce students to the Web and the ways in which the internet is changing the field of communications. You will learn about the development of the Web and issues regarding its content and direction. Furthermore, you will learn to design and create your own website. The module is assessed by submission of a written review of a website, or related websites, by 22 March 2002 (33%), and your own website, plus a short accompanying text, by 13 May 2002 (67%). Lectures are on Mondays, LT15, at 2pm, and Thursdays, LT12, at 12pm. Seminars are on Fridays, ICS-LT2, at 10am, 11am, or 12am. Computer room sessions are Tuesday 9am-11am, Wednesday 9am-11am, or Thursday 9am-11am. See also: HTML Tutorial Pages by Drew Whitworth, and David's links to things mentioned in lectures. The module guide gives full details of the course, the teaching and the assessment, plus reading, software, and more. We have a glossary which lists some tech words alongside some key software, companies and people; a selection of useful links and other resources; and David Gauntlett's page offers further material. |
